High up in the Bavarian alps overseeing the city of Berchtesgaden lay once one of the most expensive and luxurious residences in Europe. It belonged to German dictator Adolf Hitler, built with money he and the Nazi Party had obtained from wealthy supporters. It was known as the Berghof.
