Winton Fun Day 16/6/24
Friends and I went out to Winton for a "FUN" day, where you're supposed to drive to 80% of the car, or your own, ability. Its only $90 a day so its really cheap to get some level of track experience. Though I show my fastest lap I'm still pretty casual about it and not really pushing so I bet I could do faster if I went to a proper test and tune day.
Was kinda ruined by a few bad actors. Three big rules Winton has in place, no divebombing, no racing and let faster cars through on the main straights. Suffice to say I show three people who refused to follow these rules.
The Sexcel cup car that was divebombing, the Focus ST that was just basically trying to "drift" around corners and accelerating away on the straight, and an Abarth 500 that was trying to race me but ended up falling off the track.
idk what it is, when people see an Evo they see red. That said when I got some clean track it was a lot of fun. Couple of driveby clips of my mates 86 and Charade running E85 and being a total meme.
A friend timed me on the day marking my lap time as a 1:47, however going from the video at the 150m board before the T1/2 chicane, it comes in at a 1:45. Technically speaking that 150m board is on the real main straight, but my mate was standing after the Chicane. I'm still using the 1:47 as the time but knowing its possibly faster is a nice feeling indeed.
