Reimagine the American Way
What if a global pandemic forced people to isolate from family, friends, and colleagues or risk contracting a deadly disease? Physical distancing questioned rugged individualism and the "American Way." During the pandemic, those who chose to live in collaboration with others in shared intentional communities like cohousing and cooperatives had built-in, collaborative ways to stay in touch with those around them as a hedge against loneliness. Documentary filmmaker interviewed several residents who live in cohousing communities and a cooperative house during the COVID-19 pandemic and learned how they coped with loneliness with caring and sharing.
