Children’s day or baal diwas is celebrated on the 14th of November to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first prime minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
He was a strong believer of children’s education as children are future leaders of the nation so he stressed the need for providing ample opportunities for their proper growth and development.
He was very popular among the children and they lovingly called him Chacha Nehru.
Children’s day is celebrated with great interest in all schools in India. Many activities like fancy dress, speech, singing competition, sports & games and teachers vs student matches are organized in the school.
Children participate in all these activities with great zeal. Sweets are distributed to children at the end of the day. Children eagerly wait for this day as it brings lot of happiness and fun.
