I first became aware of this song seeing John Prine perform it live in Los Angeles maybe 10 years ago. He was on stage with an upright bassist and a second guitarist who was a multi instrumentalist, switching from electric guitar to mandolin and maybe even banjo...it's hard to remember. I really enjoyed that show and the handful of other John Prine shows I was able to attend (I didn't see nearly enough of them). He's a legend and a master songwriter. This is one of his fun ones. Almost a childrens song. I love it dearly and I love covering it when I can.
We'll miss you John. Rest in Peace.
