Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) – a Russian painter.
For Wassily Kandinsky, there was an inextricable connection between music and colour. Like music, Kandinsky’s abstract paintings speak directly to our senses and feelings, creating its own imaginary world and triggering emotions. Kandinsky gave many of his paintings musical titles, such as Composition, Improvisation and Fugue.
British composer Max Richter offers a reconstruction of Vivaldi’s famous Four Seasons (originally composed in 1725). Spring opens with the violin effects suggestive of bird singing. Richter’s dreamlike minimalism offers enough glimpses of Vivaldi, but at the same time appears completely new and modern.
