✅✅ℹ️I'll show you the whole route so you can plan it perfectly.👇🏼
The route starts from the Ordesa Meadow (1,320 m). From the parking area, take the forest track that climbs the right bank of the Arazas Valley through a lush forest. You'll pass a series of picturesque waterfalls before leaving the forest and reaching the Soaso Steps (1,730 m, 2 h 10 min).
After passing them, you'll reach the Soaso Cirque, with excellent views of the Monte Perdido massif, and stop along the way at the foot of the Cola de Caballo waterfall (1,775 m, 2 h 40 min).
Cross the river and, bypassing the Pelay ledge trail, continue along the path that ascends in gentle switchbacks along the Camino de los Machos (Path of the Males). Horsetail Falls: Another more athletic and exposed option is to traverse this section using the Soaso pegs and chains. Both alternatives merge at the top, after crossing this rocky threshold, and from here the single path ascends through steps and grassy meadows until reaching the Góriz Refuge (2,200 m, 4 h 10 min).
Like us, it's common to spend the night at the refuge, planning the ascent over two days.
The climb from Góriz to Monte Perdido is marked with cairns and begins to the northeast, ascending some rocky ridges and a few steep sections where you'll need to use your hands, before reaching the Boulder Field. Any of the routes marked by the cairns will allow you to cross this rugged and rocky area, which provides access to the Frozen Lake (2,990 m, 6 h 35 min from La Pradera, 2 h 25 min from the Góriz Refuge). However, just before reaching this lake, you have to ford a small, almost always frozen, ravine, using a chain for added safety.
From the lake, the route heads southeast and tackles the final slopes, first along a lateral moraine and the Escupidera del Monte Perdido (Spit of Monte Perdido), then up the same gully, popularly known as "La Escupidera" (The Spitter). (If there is snow or ice, the use of technical high-mountain equipment is essential: ice axe, crampons, and rope.) At the end of the gully, you reach a col that, in a few minutes, will take you to the summit of Monte Perdido (3,348 m, 7 hours 35 minutes from La Pradera, 3 hours 25 minutes from the Góriz Refuge).
The return journey follows the same route (2 hours 30 minutes to the Góriz Refuge, 5 hours 50 minutes to La Pradera de Ordesa).
