Connected was written with a desire to be and stay connected to the two best things in my life. As with a lot of my songs, it took on its' own life. As the verses and choruses repeated...and by the end of the song...it was me reaching out to everyone in this beautiful (yes...I do believe it is still beautiful) world we share. (Cue the sappy 70's Pepsi commercial)
I make no apologies because it is real. And I believe it is the answer.
When my Sunday Night Twitch group decided to adopt this as 'our song' (by the way, you can find me on Twitch as Delacaster) . Each and every Sunday and now every time I go live...."Connected" is played. And I can feel and hear the viewers singing along with me.
But the song wasn't done growing or evolving. When I lost a childhood friend a few years ago it took on an even bigger meaning. Patrick had survived cancer...Twice! But it took it's toll and he wasn't long for the world. He had done more and impacted people in a way that most of us don't do in two lifetimes. Just several months before Pat died he shared with me that "Connected" was his favorite song. I thought he meant his favorite 'Jim' song....he meant favorite, period. No words can describe how I felt at that moment.
The song will forever be dedicated to Zack & Jake...my dudes, Patrick Savini..one of the 5 best men I've ever known, and to my SNG....Sunday Night Group! I love you all.
