Samantha Muir & Lara Taylor in Concert
A few excerpts from our concert at Arundells in Salisbury on 16/11/2023. We played pieces for machete and guitar by Candido Drummond as well as a number of guitar duets. I also played some solos on ukulele, guitar and 4-course Renaissance guitar. And, yes, I did talk a bit about the instruments and their relationships!
I put the rather dramatic string snap at the end of the video but it actually occurred midway through the 2nd half. Luckily the string held on until the final harmonic of 'I Love You' by Maria Linnemann. I was able to quickly changed the string before continuing the performance. Phew! As I said at the time, I wasn't expecting that!
It was a lovely evening and I was really happy to be able to do this concert despite having recently had my appendix out - hence the waistband free attire! Or perhaps I was embracing my inner Telly Tubby. Thanks to Lara for stepping in at the last minute to do some duets, thus easing the load for me. Thanks also to Josie for driving us there, being the roadie and taking the videos.
Earlier in the day I conducted a thoroughly enjoyable ukulele workshop with some classical ukulele enthusiasts.
