!*TEASER*! Plato's Allegory of the Cave Part I - "Scenes from the Cave"
I haven't uploaded anything new to YouTube in quite a while now, in part because of how busy I've been with school and work. However, I have been slowly working on a new piece since about April 2011. It's based on Plato's Allegory of the Cave and is my musical representation of the story itself, not necessarily the overarching allegorical message.
It's written in scenes, similar to ballets such as the Firebird by Igor Stravinsky, in which it follows a number of characters musically. I have chosen to represent the experience of the cave through the eyes of a man who escapes the cave and discovers the outside world.
There are many scenes that flow into each other without interruption, and the whole piece is not yet complete, but here is the first scene ... Inside the Cave as a Prisoner ... which takes us all the way to the beginning of the second scene but, it will not begin in this video.
Picture yourself in a dark, desolate cave. Dirt around you, all manner of small creature crawling about. Even a drip in the distance. Now imagine you are a prisoner in this cave ...
