In this video presentation first shared at OMED 2020, Melissa Schmidt (JAOA Director) gives an overview of the academic research cycle. This presentation is intended for both novice and experienced researchers, with the aim of helping to clarify the ways in which research springs from clinical observations and begets new projects/phases before circling back again to a core question or knowledge gap. Ms. Schmidt clarifies which types of methodology are best suited to answer each question, discusses the order in which each type of study should be undertaken, and specifies which published article types correlate best with each step.
