I measure the recline angles of car seats with a special tool.
Perhaps this information will be of interest to someone.
The results of the recline angle measurements for these car seats are shown in the video:
Isofix 150° (in the maximum rearward-facing position).
Belt-type car seats: 160°+ (in the maximum rearward-facing position). Additionally, with belt-type car seats, it is physically possible to further recline the seat with certain adjustments (for example, when the car seat is tilted back too far, and the child in a rearward-facing car seat becomes very upright), if the manufacturer allows it.
For many years, I've been telling parents about child car seat safety.
But life differs from what's written in the dry language of instructions.
Parents often (almost always) want the most reclined position in their child's car seat.
When I argue that this might be unsafe, they respond with the argument that "we want the child to be comfortable first!" and there have even been cases where they said they were only interested in safety "in part."
I can't forbid parents from creating comfort for their child.
Parents decide what comes first: comfort or safety.
I'm often asked to show car seats with the most reclining backrest.
In harness-type car seats, it's physically possible to "recline the backrest too far" (there's no mechanical limiter), although there are restrictions in the instructions!
