Have you been wondering why Amazon would sell millions of their Fire TV and Fire Stick Devices so cheap? Watch this video to find out why!

This question has been raging on for months and every answer is purely speculation. What we are going to look at is what has changed since Amazon release the Fire TV Stick, what the
benefits of blocking Kodi from the Fire TV Stick would be to Amazon and the ways of getting around it if Amazon do indeed block Kodi from the Fire TV devices.

Has Amazon started blocking applications from the Fire TV?

Amazon has recently blocked a few applications from it’s platform one of which is a popular android application used to bypass Amazon’s home launcher page so third party apps could be easily launched was recently disabled in the Amazon Fire TV recent update. The most popular reason for this happening what because it bypassed the adverts Amazon display to users on the Fire TV home screen. In all fairness Amazon did start allowing third party apps in to the Apps section of the home screen. This does demonstrate that Amazon can and will block applications that they feel have a negative impact on their revenue.

Does Kodi have an impact on Amazons revenue?

Yes it certainly does. A positive impact. Would Amazon sold half the amount of Fire TV devices had Kodi been blacklisted from the device? Absolutely not. The fact people can manipulate Kodi on the Fire TV Stick will have lead to millions of sales. Ask yourself, would you have bought a Fire TV Stick for Netflix or Amazon Prime? So you get the picture. There will come a time when sales have peaked or Amazon are pressured by other streaming services such as Netflix. Will Amazon decide to block Kodi from the Fire TV range at that time and start pushing Amazon Prime on to the millions of users? It certainly seems like it would make for a great marketing strategy but at this stage we can only speculate. One thing is certain, Amazon will disable apps from the Fire TV devices based on their package name.

What are the benefits of Blocking Kodi from Fire TV Sticks?

– A deal with a premium stream provider.

How much would a streaming provider pay to advertise right on your TV to their exact target audience? Put yourself in this scenario. You just found Kodi has been blocked from your Fire TV Stick when you were about to kick back for the night and a catch up on The Walking Dead. Then a full screen advert for “Netflix $5.00/month for the first six months” popped up on your screen. Would you take it? There is a good chance you would. Amazon could either push their own services or another service provider and make a fortune.

– Dropping the association with piracy and looking like the industry hero’s

Amazon hate being associated with anything that makes the brand look suspect. They pride themselves on being whiter than white. The safe shopping experience can not be associated with piracy, which was the main reason they blacklisted the Kodi app from the Amazon App Store. If they pull the plug on Kodi with a well written statement they can look like the hero of piracy, the name you can trust, and by the way people Amazon Prime is half price for 6 months…buy it now! Amazon know exactly what is going on with their devices. They know how many people are using certain apps on their devices. They know whether you are using side loaded apps or whether they are Amazon apps. How often you use the apps. How you navigate around the device. They are the up there with Google and Facebook in terms of analytical data and algorithms. They know exactly what they will be doing with Fire TV devices in the future.
