High LDL = High Risk? What you need to know about LDL cholesterol!
Hello everyone, and welcome to my channel! Today I'd like to talk to you about a topic that's important to many people: LDL cholesterol.
Cholesterol is an important substance in our bodies, but too much of it can pose a health risk.
In this video, you'll learn which LDL levels are too high and pose a threat to your arteries.
Why is LDL cholesterol dangerous?
If LDL cholesterol levels are too high, it can build up in the arteries and narrow them. This can lead to arteriosclerosis, also known as hardening of the arteries.
Arteriosclerosis is a serious disease that significantly increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular diseases.
How high should your LDL cholesterol level be?
The optimal LDL cholesterol level depends on various factors, such as age, gender, and the presence of risk factors.
In general:
Ideal: Below 100 mg/dL (2.6 mmol/L)
Elevated: 100–129 mg/dL (2.6–3.3 mmol/L)
Borderline: 130–159 mg/dL (3.4–4.1 mmol/L)
High: 160–189 mg/dL (4.1–4.9 mmol/L)
Very high: Over 190 mg/dL (over 4.9 mmol/L)
High LDL cholesterol is therefore a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. It is therefore important to know your LDL cholesterol level and, if necessary, take measures to lower it.
