This antique herb and vegetable chopper was completely worn out and barely usable when I found it.
In this restoration I rebuilt several parts from scratch while preserving the original character of the tool.
The original wooden board was beyond saving, so I crafted a new one from solid oak and finished it with food-safe oil. The blade mounting plate had to be completely remade as well, including a custom brass bushing because the original thread was destroyed.
The blade holder itself needed more serious repair. I manufactured a new thread section and laser welded it into place before restoring the rest of the part.
The blade was carefully restored and sharpened, and I also made a new wooden handle with a brass end cap.
To finish the project, all metal parts were nickel plated for protection and durability, while the oak board received a food-safe finish.
This old kitchen tool is now fully functional again and ready for many more years of use.
