The Secret Behind this Riff !
The Sound Of Truth by As I Lay Dying.
Phil Sgrosso & Nick Hipa made an incredible riff for this song for the album (An Ocean Between Us 2007), when I first posted a cover of this song on YouTube (2011) my tempo wasn’t right at all. Today I share with you a tip that is helping me for being more aware of the tempo subdivision.
Playing with the metronome:
1 2 3 4 (all beats)
1 _ 3 _ (Every Two beats)
1 _ _ _ (every first beat)
1 _ _ 4 _ _ 3 _ _ 2 _ _ 1 (every tree beats)
1 _ _ _ / _ _ _ _ / 1 _ … (first beat two measures)
Playing with the metronome in this way helped me for being more conscious whenever I’m rushing or dragging.
