Is the gig economy working?
The gig economy, the freelance economy, the independent workforce, slashers, odd jobbers, part-timers, contractors, the self-employed – call it whatever you want, but there’s no denying that this “irregular” way to make a living is on the rise. By some estimates, half of all US workers will be freelancers within a decade. Is this a sign of new freedom and flexibility? Or are working stiffs getting squeezed?
