The subcompact hatchback is dead. Long live the subcompact crossover. At least, that's the idea at Honda. The old HR-V was built on the Honda Fit platform, but the Fit has been discontinued for the United States, so that means we needed a new HR-V. The new subcompact crossover is built on the new Civic's architecture. That means it's a bit bigger, but it also means it'll likely drive better.
