We might have just made the Rosetta Stone of Robotics...
There has been a lot of excitement about Large Language Models (LLMs) such as #chatgpt, Llama2, and Palm, but sometimes it's hard to appreciate the near-term value of these tools specifically for robotics. We are excited to share some magic we've been cooking up at READY Robotics Labs - a robot program translation tool that solves a key issue in the industrial robotics space.
Although the value of using ForgeOS is profound, adopting ForgeOS as the way you use automation still requires a bit of effort, especially if a manufacturer already has programs on the existing robots they want to use with ForgeOS. These programs, written in the OEM programming language, need to be replicated in Task Canvas, ForgeOS' no-code programming tool. This tool has re-defined ease of use for robotics, but re-implementing these programs still takes time.
Here we are showing a brief teaser of using our translation tool to take the existing program from an industrial robot and using cutting-edge LLMs, translate that program directly into a Task Canvas flow chart.
We will share more detail in the future, but one of the tools we used to do this, besides a fine-tuned LLM, was our recently released Forge Edge API, which provides a wide variety of REST-based interfaces to ForgeOS, including in this case, the ability to import Task Canvas programs using our Forge Task Language.
