Fasnacht Zürich 2019
The beginning of Lent celebrations are a big thing here in Switzerland - and it seems the surrounding Germanic lands as well. Alternatively called Carnival or Mardi Gras elsewhere in the world, the Swiss celebrate Fasnacht. Each city has a parade of the guilds as well as some nighttime revelry. This was my first time attending such a celebration. Other than some inclement weather, the parade was a lot of fun. Most of the guilds came dressed in some variant of troll outfits and there were quite a few bands to spice things up in the music department.
