Neuroimaging techniques can tell us a lot about how the brain works. Tracking blood flow (with fMRI) can tell us where processes are happening in the brain, but it can’t tell us what or when. That’s where EEG comes in! By measuring the electrical activity of neurons more directly, we can learn a lot about what the brain is actually doing—what kinds of algorithms the brain is executing and how the brain represents information.
