Home-made LCD Projector 8' HD TV / Computer Monitor
I never said this was a how-to video. It would be duplicated effort. Check out • Make your own home video projector. if you want to learn how to build one yourself. Their project looks to be very similar to what I did.
Cost: under $200. Make an 8 foot screen TV / computer monitor from old computer parts and an overhead projector. The projector is higher wattage (brighter) and the screen has more pixels (sharper) than a standard computer projector so overall I'm quite satisfied with the way this project turned out. The higher wattage bulb is bright enough for a clear daytime picture but it also raises your electric bill and puts out a lot of heat. I taped a quiet CPU fan on top to keep the screen cool. It just blows across the top surface of the screen, nothing fancy.
Operating system: Fedora Linux $Free
Computer: Junk AMD 1GHz O/C to 1.4 GHz (upgraded to 2200+) $40. (It came conveniently with a vintage ATI All-In-Wonder R200 TV/video card)
Monitor: Generic LCD (WXGA?) 14" $20
Projector: Used OHP re-wired $50
Screen: Letter-size paper sheets and lots of scotch tape.
