A new EU regulation has mandated that by February 2021, all commercial and air transfer operators in Europe in the EU are required to implement a pilot support program, which includes the use of trained peers. A similar recommendation was made by the Pilot Fitness Aviation Rulemaking Committee.
From a pilot's perspective, physical and mental health is really important to us and our passengers. Mental health can be a really uncomfortable topic for all of us. So we are sitting down with Nick Goodwin, the leader of the Pilot and Human Performance Project on behalf of the UK Civil Aviation Authority. He is an expert in human factors, human performance, and crew resource management. He has 4500 hours of jet, multi-engine, and rotary experience. He has focused on flight operations, learning development, crew welfare, personal growth, and human factors.
