Cerebral abscess is a focal purulent collection in the brain
Usual source is via haematogenous spread via the blood to the brain
Infection can also reach the brain by direct infection from the paranasal sinuses or mastoid air cells
Presentation
Fevers
Headache
Raised ICP
Seizures
Investigation
CT
CT with contrast
MRI with DWI/ADC
Treatment
Usually require operative management and intravenous antibiotics
