Safe Temperature Limits for Loading Coal || COAL
Coal is a fossil mineral used as a fuel for heating boilers in coal-fired power plants and in metal processing or smelting plants.
Due to the spontocomb (spontaneously combustible) and self-heating (producing heat by itself) nature of coal, continuous monitoring is essential during loading. The temperature of coal loaded onto a ship also requires careful attention to prevent the cargo from catching fire during the voyage. Therefore, as a First Officer (Main Officer), you must fully understand the safe temperature limits for coal to be loaded into the hold.
