The Greek Courtyard is one of the largest and most beautiful halls in the Pushkin Museum. It houses casts of surviving statues and reliefs from the Parthenon, a life-size replica of the famous portico of the Erechtheum, the portico of the Temple of Hephaestus on the Athenian Agora (the marketplace), a model of the Acropolis of Athens, and much more.
Art history is the study of not only the monument itself but also its context—its origin, existence, and influence. In this sense, the Greek Courtyard at the Pushkin Museum is an ideal place.
