2.44KW is the maximum power/peak load you have consumed in a particular period usually monthly. MD stands for Maximum Demandmeasured in KW. For example, suppose you have 3 electrical appliances 500W,750W and 1000W respectively. The MD for a particular period depends on how you use the appliances.
