This is one of my university projects at Örebro University called The Doctors of Time.
The task was to make a set extention in After Effects using footage we had filmed ourselves, combined with some kind of green screen effect, 3D object or both. The set extention was also supposed to be an opening adaption to a fictional film.

For the fictional film, I had the idea of a Sci-Fi crossover between Doctor Who and Back to the Future. My friend Ludvig had already prepared a Doc Brown suit for Halloween, and his old Toyota Starlet can be resembled as some kind of budget Delorean... So I was basically half way done. The time travel effect are all free overlays I found online, combined with a bit of editing in After Effects.

The first shot with the TARDIS is a hand held panorama with the camera, ofcourse I used Warp Stabilizer to stabilize the footage before using camera tracker in After Effects. When the footage was stabilized and tracked I added a free 3D model of a TARDIS that I found on Turbosquid. I experimented with several lights in Cinema 4D to make the TARDIS fit the environment, and after a while I got it to fit as pretty as I could. I also added a Gaussian Blur and some Match Noise Grain in After Effects to make it fit in even more. The final element to make it fit the environment was to toy around with HUE/Saturation and Colour Corrector to match the colours of the original footage.

The final wide shot with both the TARDIS and Doc Brown was simply the same routine as with the first shot that features the TARDIS.

If you have any questions I'll try to answer them all in the comment section. PEACE
