I have been collecting shells as soon as my parents took me to the beach as a pre-schooler and haven't stopped. Serious Sanibel Stoop by age 10. Interest in anything salt-water forged a path through life. Active in most positions and board of Phila. Depth Chargers SCUBA Club (2nd oldest SCUBA club in the USA),1968 through 1984. Diving in various locations around the globe added interesting finds to shell coffers. Held USCG 100-ton Captain's License 1974 until 1992, owning and operating a Charter Dive Boat for 13 years out of Atlantic City and later Barnegat Light, NJ. Tide knowledge helps one get in and out of tricky inlets, like Barnegat Inlet. Held the first all-women's dive (captain, mate, and all participants) in the US in August, 1978. Open Water SCUBA Instructor for PADI (Professional Assn of Diving Instructors) and YMCA for 15 years. Academically hold a BS in Marine Biology from Stockton University, NJ, with concentration in Ichthyology (Fish) and Environmental Studies. Minors in Geology and Creative Writing. Would have liked to continue with Miami U, but family issues dictated return to the north. Author, "Quiet Waters of New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania," an Appalachian Mountain Club Canoe and Kayak Guide. Volunteer at Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum out on the floor and in Collections.
