How BlueConduit is using AI to make drinking water safe
22 million Americans get drinking water through toxic lead pipes. Low-income communities are affected the worst.
BlueConduit is using AI to help city officials find and replace lead lines. Google.org has been supporting them since 2016 with grants totaling $3M and a team of data scientists.
By combining multiple data points, location, age of buildings, property values, and many other factors with information gathered from site visits – the city was four times more likely to correctly identify and replace lead pipes.
