Making Traditional Nordic Fungus Tinder - Campfire Cooking - The Old North
"The Old North" is a series of videos where I try out and practice some traditional Finnish/Nordic outdoor skills without modern day equipment. In this episode we´ll make ´taula´, which has been in use extensively as a tinder for flint and steel fire lighters up until 1850 or so, when matches began to be available for the common folk, and flint and steel became obsolete.
By Finnish law, making a fire directly on the ground and taking firewood requires the landowner´s permission. For the filming of these videos, all needed permissions have been aqcuired.
