Biologist, zoologist, and writer, considered the mother of the American environmental movement, Rachel Carson was the first to lift the veil on the dangers of the indiscriminate use of pesticides on crops, and the first to publicly denounce the damage inflicted on nature by uncontrolled deforestation and reckless human intervention.
Her most important book, "Silent Spring," is one of those texts that truly change things, because it marks a watershed in the history of environmental awareness.
