Umreva Ostrog in Novosibirsk region is an ancient fort and prison of 1703. It was found 23 years ago in archeological digging in 2000 and reconstructed partly Umreva Ostrog shows the harsh living conditions of the early 18th century, when the Cossacks-nobles with the army came to the Ob river to explore Siberia defending from the invasions of tribes from the Altai, thereby establishing the first settlements on the territory of the present Novosibirsk region.
