Charlie Chaplin - A Night In The Show
"A Night in the Show" marks Charlie Chaplin's 12th film for Essanay, produced at Majestic Studio in Los Angeles during the fall of 1915. Chaplin showcases his versatility by portraying two distinct roles: Mr. Pest and Mr. Rowdy. The film draws inspiration from Chaplin's stage performance in a play called "Mumming Birds" (also known as "A Night at an English Music Hall" in the United States) with the Karno Company from London. Chaplin, having previously presented this play during U.S. tours with the Fred Karno company, incorporates elements of it into his cinematic work. Edna Purviance makes a cameo appearance in a minor role as a lady in the audience.
