But for me, sudden changes in my life required one big, blind leap of faith. So I packed up what I could into my tiny Ford Escort and drove across the country to become a full time, matriculated student at an unknown campus, in an unknown apartment, and in an unknown way of life. Aside from the obvious things I’d never experienced in the hot, dry Rocky Mountain West cockroaches, humidity, fried Twinkies I quickly learned five things about the University of Louisiana Lafayette that I wish I had known much, much sooner.
