In this interactive webinar, we will illustrate major points from our book From Exclusion to Excellence: Building Restorative Relationships to Create Inclusive Schools.
Based on 30 years of action research working with schools, the book shows how teachers and schools can build restore relationships and work more effectively with “excluded” children who, for whatever reason, fall behind and whose disruptive behavior puts them at risk and makes teaching almost impossible.
In the webinar, we will present a case study for discussion among the participants as a way of illustrating “reframing,” one of the central ideas in the book and a fundamental skill for turning difficult situations into opportunities for connection and learning. Furthermore, we will discuss the importance of teacher well-being as an essential precondition for building restorative relationships.
The webinar will show how schools can provide frameworks that enable teachers to openly and constructively deal the difficult emotions they often experience in working with excluded children.
