Finding the right fonts can be hard! 😅
.
In this video, I wanted to outline some things to consider when it comes to font pairing.
.
It can be a tricky thing when starting out in design to work out, which fonts work well together, so I've put together a couple of considerations below:
.
1. Complement, don't compete - you want the fonts to work together instead of fighting for attention.
.
2. Using too many fonts can make your design look chaotic and disorganised. A good rule of thumb is to try and stick with 2/3 complementing fonts that blend nicely together. Fonts with different weights can be a good option to show hierarchy in a design.
.
3. Opposites attract - mixing fonts style can be a good way to create visual contrast in your designs. One thing to always be conscious of, though, is readability. Script fonts can look great for title text, but it becomes hard to read when used for body copy.
.
I hope this helps!
.
P.s, I have been taking the time to try and learn After Effects over the past few weeks, so I set this video as a challenge to really explore how to use AE for creating content. I would love to hear any feedback you might have!
.
PPS, I have no idea if people even read descriptions on YouTube, so if you've made it this far, comment 'fonts' so I can see if writing out these descriptions are even worth it 😅
