Accounting is essentially the way we keep track of money, whether it's for a business or our personal finances. Think of it like keeping a diary of all the money that comes in and goes out. Just as you might write down your daily expenses to understand where your money is going, businesses use accounting to record their transactions. This helps them know how much they’re earning, which we call revenue, and how much they’re spending, known as expenses.

Imagine you run a small lemonade stand. You earn money from selling lemonade—that’s your revenue. But you also need to buy lemons, sugar, and cups—those are your expenses. Accounting helps you see clearly if you’re actually making a profit or spending more than you earn. It’s this tracking that shows whether your business is thriving or if you need to change something.
