Even When - Official Music Video
This year tried its best to rob so many of us of hope.
“All Your ways are good” might be one of the most overused Christian Cliches’ about God. I’ve been there too and rolled my eyes at the thought.
Yet, experiencing both horrific loss through the tragedy of widowhood and miraculous healing, I can now sing these words with a deep honesty. They’ve been tested to the brink and found bedrock true.
I write music to help carry you through whatever life throws your way. This past year threw Covid our family’s way. For 9 months our daughter was in and out of the hospital battling covid-related complications.
Many of our friends have also gone through intense challenges. As I wrote this song I had their faces in front of me. I was looking at these images (shared in the video), interceding for them. This song began as a prayer for our daughter and quickly morphed into a prayer for all of us who are hurting and longing for hope and healing right now.
Tragedy can rob us of so much, but it can also be a great teacher if we choose to respond to it with hope.
Hope is a choice long before it’s an emotion.
Grace precedes hope. God precedes grace. He’s the initiator.
When we accept God’s grace, He empowers us to choose hope over despair.
I was crying out to God early one morning while our daughter was in the hospital, begging God to heal her when these words fell in my heart:
“You walk with me through the valley
Immerse me there in Your blessing
Your grace and love chase after me
All Your ways are good.”
All things are not good, but all things ARE redeemable. God can redeem anything and anyone. He is able to bring good out of even the most terrible tragedy.
It might not happen as quickly as we’d like. It might look different than we expect. But it will be immersed in love and goodness.
I know so many of you have struggled this year too.
This video is our collective story of trial and triumph, pointing to Hope. It's not a distant hope from history or some future hope that's to come. It's hope for here and now, today.
