Advances in AI-assisted technologies and the growing sophistication of international threat actors are increasing the stakes for federal agencies to implement new and more effective safeguards to protect the nation’s strategic data. Much of that effort revolves around the Biden administration’s Executive Orders on National Cybersecurity and related mandates coming due in 2024 to adopt zero-trust architectures across their enterprises.

Dr. Mark Stanley, Enterprise Cybersecurity Architect & Lead, NASA’s move to Zero Trust, joined other top cybersecurity decision-makers from government and tech at CyberScoop’s Zero Trust Summit to discuss strategies in laying the foundations for and establishing the major pillars of zero-trust cybersecurity.

In this interview, Stanley answered the following questions:
1. Do you believe federal agency senior executives have full understanding of the resources required to achieve zero trust objectives?
2. Where are you seeing signs that AI will help accelerate agency efforts to establish zero trust practices?

This interview is part of a series filmed in conjunction with the Zero Trust Summit held on February 15, 2024, in Washington, D.C.
