Join my museum day in London, as I finally cross off what seems to be the most popular museum in London - The British Museum.
With iconic items from all over the world, including the infamous Rosetta Stone, and their best-known collection items, mostly coming from Egypt (most of which people believe should be returned to the countries they were taken from - but that's a whole other topic).
While I'm happy to say I've seen the Rosetta Stone in person, I can say without a doubt, this is my least favorite museum that I've visited (and I've been to a lot all over the world).
I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe I just came on an off day, but after talking to others, it seems big crowds, and staff that aren't very nice seem to be a common issue encountered here.
Though I wasn't able to make it through the entire museum, this is one place I have no desire to return to.
I always try to keep positive, and I did really enjoy the clock room, as well as getting to see a first edition of The Wizard of Oz (my favorite childhood story).
Unfortunately, it was my experience with there staff that really put me off this museum. Especially the way the handled closing, screaming at everyone but not telling them which direction to walk, or giving conflicting directions, which led to a lot of excess confusion and crowds, since exits weren't always clearly marked or open.
But lucky for me, my day turned around quickly at dinner. I got end my day by finally trying the London foodie favorite Dishoom, which I'm happy to report lived up to every bit of hype.
The service, the food, the decor, all blew me away. I can't recommend it enough - I'll even give you tips on scoring a table at this London hot spot without a reservation!
