Here at Southern California Hospice Foundation, we have a successful 21-year track record of serving terminally ill adults and children across Southern California. Healing happens here. We have reunited families and partnered with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Harrison Ford, and Gordon Ramsay to fulfill patient’s final wishes. We also provide groceries and pay electric bills for patients and their families whose medical bills have strained their resources. We find solutions to unique problems that medical hospice agencies are not designed to provide.
Through our years of work, we have discovered that placement for patients at the end-of-life care be challenging. While Medicare and many insurers cover most medical hospice costs, they do not pay for housing or caregiving. Many families cannot provide 24-hour care for their loved one and lack the financial resources to pay someone care for them. This is the hidden housing crisis that no one knows about or talks about because it cant be seen driving down the street.
In response, we opened the Heavenly Home, a 6-bed Residential Care Facility dedicated to serving those at the end-of-life. In our home, 24-hour caregiving is provided in coordination with medical hospice, enhanced services such as massage therapy is offered, and families are welcomed to stay and be a part of their loved one’s final journey.
The Heavenly Home is the first nonprofit end-of-life care home in Orange County and the third in the state of California. Low-income residents are supplemented through philanthropic gifts gifts and the generosity of our community, allowing us to create a sanctuary of hope.
That's why your donation is so important! Our goal is to raise $50,000 for the Heavenly Home, which includes a $10,000 matching gift from Apriem Advisors and a $10,000 gift from an anonymous donor!
Give now and help OC families enjoy the freedom to focus on the things that matter most during their loved ones’ final days. Please, help us to preserve the dignity of the dying.
