forgot how quickly the air can freeze
train pulls in an' it's a rolling slow
to take me down that familiar road
packed my bags, but can't seem to go
that old whistle blows, rattlin' my brain
kicks up those chilly scenes again
cold wind blows time and time again
my heart grows old hungry and cold
the tracks laying out opposite roads
i'm looking for warmth in that new fallen snow
train rolls out, lighting a spark
a lone burnin' coal, faint and charred
want to blow it aglow, but it's too long gone
throat closed tight I turn right around
snow fallin' hard all around
pick up my guitar and drown in the sound
