How to Calculate I-Bond Interest Rates | Bonds Issued by the U.S. Government
In this video, I will guide you on how to calculate the interest rate of I-bonds.
I-bonds are a type of bond issued by the US government. It's like lending money to the US government, and they pay you interest. You only lose money if the US government declares bankruptcy, so the risk is practically zero.
The current interest rate for I-bonds is 6.89% for those who purchased them in November 2022. For those who purchased before November 2022, the current interest rate is 6.48%. Quynh Ly has already written an explanation of this difference in the Facebook group "Independent Finance," so if you want to learn more, please read that post.
When you buy an I-bond, the interest rate is fixed for 6 months. After 6 months, it will change according to the interest rate at that time.
