The brilliant Steven Universe fandom
This is a compilation of some of the many TERRIBLE, terrible things the Steven Universe fandom (primarily the Tumblr part) has said or done as of the time this video has been uploaded. Some people in this fandom take the morals of the show a TAD bit too seriously, and as shown in this video, they will stop at nothing to prove that to people.
I know I'm not the first one to do this sort of video but there had been more recent events involving this fandom and plus, ever since I first checked out the show out of curiosity and growing more and more aware of the fandom (already aware of it previously), I had wanted to make a statement for a while. So I thought instead of a talky commentary video, something which pretty much EVERYONE has done when it concerns this topic, a flashy montage which condenses a lot of the meaty information put out in commentaries of these things they've done would be fun, and efficient to unfamiliar people. It was also a good idea to try a new editing style out too, like a bit of experimentation, you know?
[STUFF FOR THE VIEWER, READ HERE, IMPORTANT STUFF]
1. If you haven't seen Steven Universe, then don't worry if you think you're not going to understand the video. All you need to know is that the fandom has done some pretty bad things since its inception, and the captions provided throughout simplify what has been done if you don't understand.
2. Please don't get the idea that because the fandom is bad, the show is bad too. It was never the intention of the creators and showrunners to cause such malice. They just wanted to spread a positive message that people are different and you can be who you want to be, and unfortunately some people just took that too much for granted. In my opinion, Steven Universe is a pretty sick show, with some sleek visuals, good morals, etc. Of course you can think what you want to think, but don't judge the show in the wrong way just because the fandom is bad. You have your opinion and you can think what you want to think, but don't judge the show in the wrong way just because the fandom is bad. Give it a watch first before you come to your conclusions about it's content.
3. THIS VIDEO DOES NOT REPRESENT ALL OF THE FANDOM. This is only just a select portion who have said or done bad stuff. That doesn't mean everyone else is bad too. That being said, please don't go out of your way to attack anyone a part of the fandom, especially the ones mentioned in this video. What they said or done has been said or done, and they've most likely learned from what they did, so it's best to leave them be so nobody gets hurt.
