John Philbin, M.A., CCS, CSCS, CPRS, CPT President & CEO of NSPA,Owner of Philbins's ATC, Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Washington Nationals
Coach Philbin is founder (1985) and President of the National Strength Professionals Association (NSPA). NSPA is an internationally recognized certification agency that certifies strength conditioning coaches, personal trainers, physical education teachers, and post rehabilitation specialist. NSPA has been recognized by the International Dance Education Association (IDEA) as one of the top ten leading certification agencies in the United States. NSPA has certified over 15,000 professional educators and physical education teachers.
From 2001 to 2003 Coach Philbin was hired as a physical conditioning and weight management consultant for Shaw Productions (Gary Shaw). Coach Philbin has been credited for taking professional boxers to a greater level of performance through high-intensity strength training, anaerobic threshold training, PNF stretching, and sport specific conditioning specificity. He has trained numerous world class boxers and was instrumental in winning two World Boxing Association Championship Titles on HBO.
