Dark Web: The Whole Truth
What is the dark web?
That is, what everyone really talks about when they tell legends about the deep web, they usually mean the dark web.
The dark web, compared to what is said about the deep web, actually has no lower level to go.
Do you remember the unindexed resources of the deep web?
The dark web is nothing more than a portion of the deep web's resources that are not accessible by common browsers.
Darknets are nothing more than encrypted virtual networks that allow you to browse more or less anonymously and are necessary to access these dark web resources.
There isn't just one darknet; there are many different types, and each darknet has its own characteristics.
A darknet is a network of machines privately connected to each other, so the darknet is only accessible with the appropriate software, configurations, or authorizations.
So Tor is a system for accessing a particular darknet, just one, and then there are many others.
The dark web isn't a place, so a dark web resource isn't in a dark and hidden place that can be accessed via any darknet, as long as it's a darknet.
Resources within the Tor network will only be accessible via the onion routing network.
There are much more restrictive networks than Tor.
I2P is an anonymous alternative network to Tor. Unlike Tor, however, it can't be used to access regular internet pages. It only works to access hidden services specific to the I2P network.
It also can't be used to browse .onion sites, as it operates on a completely separate network from Tor. In fact, I2P uses a different set of hidden sites called "eepsites."
So Freenet is a network within a network and can't be used to access traditional internet sites. It can only be used to access content uploaded to Freenet, which is a distributed data archive.
