THETA
Theta network is a new, native blockchain and token specifically designed to support decentralized video transmission. Its technological innovations include Multi-BFT Consensus, Aggregated Signature Gossip Scheme, and Resource-Oriented Micropayment Pool. Theta serves as a long-term sustainable incentive mechanism for all stakeholders to participate in video delivery, completely decentralized.
Theta has a dual currency system. Theta tokens increase the attraction of the platform. In addition to primarily being used as a reward for viewing specific content, tokens can also be used to secure and govern the network; whereas another token, called gamma, will be paid for individual operations, such as video segment transactions, smart contract operations, etc. The token project is supported by SAMSUNG, SONY, Sierra Ventures, etc.
Theta was launched in 2018 as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. It was converted to native Theta on its Theta network later on. YouTube co-founder Steven Chen became an advisor of Theta in 2019 with the belief that it has the potential to influence the whole industry.
