Climate Change and Cow Farts!
These short films on climate change were produced by the students of Saint James Major Catholic Elementary School in Sharbot Lake, Ontario, Canada. The grade 2-8 students are part of a Climate Smart Kids initiate, developed by local climate scientist, Charlotte MacAlister. The students monitor local weather, and are concerned about our changing climate and how might impact them and other communities in the future. They wanted to find ways they can help. These awesome short films were made entirely by the students, based on their own knowledge of Climate Change. They used ipad mini’s, available in school, on basic tripods purchased with a small grant, and used software provided by Filmicpro. They learned some basic film-making skills from the Ottawa-based social enterprise Youth Active Media, and received a Speak Up grant from the Ontario Ministry of Education.
