DEEP FREEDIVE FOR SHARKS
Trevor Hutton and Lesley Rochat, the Dream Team as they have been referred to, joined forces to create this unique shark awareness campaign named DEEP FREEDIVE FOR SHARKS that successfully reached millions of people worldwide.
Trevor Hutton, a South African freediving champion went to literal depths to help raise awareness about the plight of sharks in South Africa where there is little to no protection for them. Supported by a team of 20 divers and 2 international judges, Trevor dived to 70m in the shark slaughter grounds off our coast.
Before the big event that took 4 months of preparation and to win national support, this 1min promo was produced by Lesley and shown at the biggest Super 15 Rugby match of the season of 2012 when the Stormers took on the Sharks in the Shark Tank at Mr. Price Kings Park stadium, Durban. It was seen by an estimated 50 000 spectators and Trevor was interviewed live in the stadium before it was screened. How is that for 'out of the box' thinking from our own Shark Warrior Lesley Rochat and Deep Freediving star Trevor Hutton?!
